Laxante estimulante intestinal utilizado no tratamento da constipação e para evacuação intestinal antes de procedimentos de investigação ou cirurgia. Administração oral ou retal. Sua biodisponibilidade oral muito baixa por absorção intestinal mínima faz com que os níveis plasmáticos sejam muito baixos, o que explica a passagem nula para o leite materno observada (níveis indetectáveis). (Friedrich 2011) Autores especialistas consideram aceitável o uso deste medicamento durante a amamentação. (Hale, LactMed, Gharehbaghi 2016) Para evitar ou tratar a constipação, é fundamental uma dieta equilibrada, rica em fibras, muito líquido e atividade física.
