Cefalosporina terceira geração. Administração injetável, parenteral. Como maioria cefalosporinas das quais se têm dados, excreta-se no leite materno em quantidade indetectável ou clinicamente não significativa, muito inferior dosis utilizada recém-nascidos e lactentes. (Matsuda 1984, Takase 1982, Cho 1982, Yasuda 1982, Kafetzis 1981 e 1980) Embora rara, deve-se tener em conta possibilidade gastroenterite transitória devido alteração flora intestinal em lactentes cujas mães tomam antibióticos. (Ito 1993) Autores especialistas consideram compatível uso desta medicação durante amamentação (Hale, LactMed, Briggs 2015, Rowe 2013, Bar-Oz 2003, Scott 1996, Fulton 1992).
