Comentário
É um profármaco do aciclovir utilizado no tratamento de infecções por herpes zoster e herpes simples e prevenção de infecções por citomegalovírus em pacientes imunodeprimidos. Diminui o RNA do HIV-1 no leite materno e no plasma entre as mulheres que recebem prevenção da transmissão materno-infantil (Drake 2012 feb). Administração oral duas vezes ao dia. É excretada no leite materno em forma de aciclovir em quantidade clinicamente não significativa (Drake 2012-7, Sheffield 2002) e não foram observados problemas em bebês cujas mães a tomavam. (Drake 2012-7) Os níveis de aciclovir na urina de ditos bebês foram muito baixos. (Sheffield 2002) Diversas sociedades médicas e autores especialistas consideram seguro o uso desta medicação durante a amamentação.
