Secreção viscosa das glândulas salivares de abelhas operárias que serve para alimentar as larvas das abelhas, incluindo a rainha. Contém água, proteínas, gorduras, açúcares, minerais e vitaminas B5 e B6. (Ahmad 2020) Não há estudos clínicos que respaldem as propriedades medicinais atribuídas tradicionalmente como tônico reconstituinte ou curativo em algumas doenças. (Vajdi 2023, Bahari 2023) Até a data da última atualização, não encontramos dados publicados sobre sua excreção no leite materno. Salvo casos esporádicos de asma e reações alérgicas de hipersensibilidade (Ghosh 2003) , trata-se de um produto alimentar desprovido de toxicidade e amplamente consumido, portanto não há motivo para haver problemas na amamentação.
