Comentário
Utiliza-se a raiz desta planta herbácea originária do sul da África. Contém iridoides como o harpagosideo e também fitosteroides e flavonoides. Indicações tradicionais sem provas clínicas suficientes: dores e inflamações articulares, dispepsia, flatulência e anorexia (Bargsten 2025, EMA 2016, Cameron 2014, WHO 2007, Brien 2006). Encontrou-se uma eficácia similar ao meloxicam no tratamento da osteoartrite de joelho. (Farpour 2021) Na data da última atualização não encontramos dados publicados sobre sua excreção no leite materno. Os efeitos secundários são raros e costumam ser leves (Posadzki 2013, Vlachojannis 2008); foram publicados casos de gastralgia e dispepsia (Prescrire 2013) e de pancreatite. (Douros 2013) Um consumo moderado ou ocasional seria aceitável durante a amamentação.
