Comentário
Doença produzida pelo vírus da Hepatite E (VHE), de transmissão fecal-oral e vertical durante o parto. De distribuição mundial mas endêmica nos países do Sudeste Asiático e Ásia Central. Clínica geralmente benigna, exceto no terceiro trimestre de gravidez que pode cursar como hepatite fulminante e mortal (Chaudhry 2015, OMS 2014, Fiore 2009, Ranger 2002). Embora se tenham encontrado anticorpos anti-VHE e RNA do VHE no colostro e no leite (Rivero 2016, Chibber 2004), não foi documentado contágio através da amamentação materna (Krain 2014). O contágio ocorre exclusivamente em recém-nascidos de mães com doença aguda no momento do parto, embora não sejam amamentados (Chibber 2004). A hepatite E não contraindica a amamentação materna (Chaudhry 2015, Maher 2013, Sookoian 2006, Chibber 2004, Kumar 2001).
