Comentário
Anti-helmíntico de amplo espectro. Indicado no tratamento de infestações intestinais por oxiúros, áscaris e outros nematódeos. Administração oral. Seus dados farmacocinéticos (baixa biodisponibilidade oral, amplo volume de distribuição e alto percentual de fixação a proteínas) explicam a passagem ínfima ou nula para o leite materno observada. (Kurzel 1994, Stoukides 1994) Não foram observados problemas em lactentes cujas mães o tomavam. (Kuemmerle 2020, Karra 2016, Schmid 2012) Sua baixa biodisponibilidade oral ( < 10% ) faz com que a passagem para o plasma do lactente a partir do leite materno ingerido seja nula ou ínfima, salvo em prematuros e no período neonatal imediato, nos quais pode haver maior absorção intestinal. Foi descrito um caso de inibição da amamentação (Rao 1983), não confirmado em trabalhos posteriores. (Karra 2016, Kurzel 1994, Stoukides 1994) Autores especialistas e a OMS consideram provavelmente seguro o uso desta medicação durante a amamentação.
