Piperacilina é ureidopenicilina de uso similar ticarcilina. Adiciona-se Tazobactam que é inibidor beta-lactamase com poucos efeitos clínicos e farmacocinética semelhante piperacilina. Indicada no tratamento infecções causadas por Pseudomonas aeruginosa, outras bactérias susceptíveis. Administração intravenosa. Excreta-se em leite materno em quantidade clinicamente não significativa (Wyeth 2007, Baier 1982 (em LactMed), Chaplin 1982 (em Hale)). Sua nula biodisponibilidade oral dificulta passo a plasma bebê a partir do leite materno ingerido, salvo em prematuros período neonatal imediato, nos quais pode haver maior permeabilidade intestinal. Uso autorizado neonatos bebês pequenos (Chen 2009). Embora rara, há que ter em conta possibilidade gastroenterite transitória por alteração flora intestinal em bebês que mamam cujas mães tomam antibióticos (Ito 1993). Autores especialistas consideram seguro o uso desta medicação durante amamentação (Hale, LacMed, Briggs 2015).
