Comentário

Mistura de 5 partes de sulfametoxazol e 1 parte de trimetoprim. Administração oral em duas doses diárias. O TRIMETOPRIM ( TMP ) é excretado no leite materno em quantidade muito pequena (Borderon 1975, Miller 1974 y 1973, Arnauld 1972) e não foram observados problemas em lactentes de mães que o tomavam. (Ito 1993) O SULFAMETOXAZOL ( SMX ) é excretado no leite materno em quantidade muito pequena (Miller 1974 y 1973) e não foram observados problemas em lactentes de mães que o tomavam (Ito 1993). Precaução em prematuros e recém-nascidos com hiperbilirrubinemia. Evitar em deficiência de glicose-6-fosfato-desidrogenase (G6-PD). Vigiar o aparecimento de icterícia no lactente. Embora infrequente, deve-se levar em conta a possibilidade de gastroenterite transitória por alteração da flora intestinal em lactentes cujas mães tomam antibacterianos. (Ito 1993) Autores especialistas consideram compatível o uso de TMP-SMX durante a amamentação. (Hale, LactMed, Schaefer2015, Mitrano 2009, Kaiser 2007, Chin 2001) Academia Americana de Pediatria: TMP-SMX é uma medicação usualmente compatível com a amamentação. (AAP 2001) Lista de medicamentos essenciais da OMS 2002: TMP é compatível com a amamentação. SMX é compatível com a amamentação em lactentes nascidos a termo e saudáveis. Evitar se possível se o bebê for prematuro ou tiver menos de 1 mês. Vigiar o aparecimento de hemólise ou icterícia. Evitar em lactentes com deficiência de G6-PD.
